The weekend after we went up North, we went back to California for a cousin's wedding (this time to the Chino/Ontario area). When we got there, Nana said she would watch Tessa at the hotel while the men did some dairy-related thing and new sister-in-law Jill and I went shopping. We came back to find out that Tessa had taken her first steps for Nana! She's taken a few since then, but every time we try to coax her, she sits down and starts crawling. She's a very speedy crawler, so I'm not too disappointed she hasn't taken off walking yet because I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time keeping up.
While in Chino, we also had the opportunity to visit Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma. We captured a few precious photos!

First Word???
We had the privilege of going "up North" to a friend's cabin in the mountains the weekend after our trip to California. "Up North" really is only a couple hours north of Phoenix, but it's green and a whole lot cooler, so it feels much further away. We enjoyed the nice weather and got the chance to go for a long walk and take Tessa on a Rhino ride.
On the last night we were there, we were sitting in the cabin with a bunch of people. I walked away from Tessa and she clearly turned around, looked at me, and cried Mama! Now, to be perfectly honest, she has been saying dada for a while, but I don't think she had ever really said it specifically to Tommy before this, so I'm counting mama as her first word! She now says Dada and ball way more and I barely ever hear mama, but I have a roomful of people to collaborate my story!
A Month of Updates
This past month we have been busy with celebrations, trips, and new adventures. So much has happened and I'm finally getting to documenting it all=). So here we go on another series of makeup posts!
We'll start with our trip to California for the wedding of brother Chad. Yeah! Tommy and I decided it would be a good idea to break up the 9 hour drive by driving to LA and getting a hotel and then taking the scenic route up the coast to Central California the next day. It ended up taking longer than we thought, but the drive was beautiful and we got the chance to stop at the beach for Tessa's first ocean experience.
Tessa got her first taste of stairs at Chad's house. She motored right up them and kept going back for more. I'm so glad we don't have stairs! But now she climbs on anything and everything she can lift her leg up onto.

We had a great time with family and friends and are so happy to have a new sister-in-law! The wedding was beautiful, and other than Tessa wanting to talk during the wedding ceremony (luckily they had glass doors in the church so I took her out and could watch from the lobby), she did really great.
